Hello and welcome to the summer edition of our newsletter…and it is summer even if the sun isn’t always playing ball. Luckily we can help you shine indoors with our fantastic selection of workshops and classes!
We’ve already had a raft of folk through the doors of the Dunblane studio to make sea glass rings, stacking rings, spinner rings and some bangles in our Textured Bracelet class. Hopefully you’ve been following us on social media and seen some of the amazing pieces that have been produced. If you haven’t followed us yet, now is the perfect time as there is a competition running across our Facebook and Instagram pages to win a place on one of our Sea Glass Ring workshops!
We had a fantastic conclusion to the three Evening Classes last month with some pretty spectacular pieces being finished – including a spectacular gold and ruby wedding band. And speaking of wedding rings, this month we have Claire & Micheal joining us for a bespoke workshop to make each other’s wedding bands for their big day in August. Do you have an idea for a special present or group day out? Just fill out the contact form and we will get back to you.
Evening classes continue to be popular across all three evenings and once again we have an almost 100% return rate for students looking to come back in September. While we are hugely proud of how much students are enjoying our classes we also recognize that there are new folk hoping to get one of these ‘gold dust’ places (pun very much intended). If you are looking to join the Evening Class program we are are currently taking expressions of interest for a Monday evening class. The upcoming term would start the w/c Sept 9th and run until mid-December with a break for the October holiday. The classes would run from 7-9pm and cost 300 pounds. Drop us a quick line at hello@cssj.co.uk if you are interested in a Monday evening class and we will add you to the waiting list.
If evening classes are not a possibility then why not join us for one of our popular one or two day weekend workshops? At the end of September we are looking forward to welcoming Edinburgh based jeweller, Jenny Deans to the studio for a 2 day workshop in fold-forming. Developed in Canada in the 1990’s, fold-forming is a hammering technique used to transform flat sheet metal into a variety of interesting 3-dimensional forms. Jenny will lead students through making samples using the basic techniques used to fold and hammer or roll metal before students can begin working towards a finished piece. This could take the form of earrings, a pendant, bracelet or a more sculptural object for the home like a spoon or candlestick…the choice is yours. In addition to all of our regular workshops, Precious Metal Clay, Etching and Jesmonite Casting will be new for Autumn 2019 – keep your eyes peeled for more details.
Keep shining!
