HALLMARKING

The purpose of hallmarking is to prove the purity of precious metal. All items (over certain weights) sold in the UK that are described as being made from gold, silver, platinum or palladium must have a legally recognised hallmark.

We are delighted to offer a Central Scotland School of Jewellery Hallmark for pieces made in the school. This is perfect for makers wishing to professionalise their practice and start selling but also for those wishing to create their own wedding bands or special items. As the ‘sponsor’ we at Central Scotland School of Jewellery are happy to send student’s jewellery items to the Assay Office on their behalf.
