SCHOOL OF JEWELLERY

Set your alarms for Monday the 17th at 9AM!

Hello,

I hope you and your families are all safe and well. When we closed our doors mid-March, I don’t think anyone imagined it would be for this long!

Lockdown Lethargy

After the initial stress of lockdown and developing our new range of toolkits – things went very quiet. For months now I’ve working away in this big, empty studio – and not accomplishing as much as I had anticipated! It’s been a funny old time. The School was lucky to be eligible for one of the Government business grants which has kept the wolves from the door.

New Normal?

The School staff however have recently been working behind the scenes to plan a safe return to teaching that follows the current guidance from the Scottish Government. New hygiene measures have already been put in place and we have increased the quantities of shared tools such as pliers & needle files in order to restrict the movement of tools between students. We also been in keeping in contact with the two other independent jewellery schools in Scotland to share information and collaborate; developing risk assessments and new best practices. You’ll be able to find our Risk Assessment and Hygiene Protocols in our new Resources section before we re-open.

Reopening!

With all of this in mind, we are so excited to be re-opening on the 17th of August for existing students to complete their 3 weeks of outstanding classes from last term. As existing students do not need as much immediate, close contact supervision we plan to stagger our opening and will welcome the first of our new students on the 12th September…for Keum Boo of course. It’s easily the most popular course we run! All of our cancelled Weekend Workshops from last term are slowly being re-added and you can get more information here. If you don’t see your course listed yet just bear with us  a little longer as we work to get all of the courses fitted back into the schedule. We will, of course, continue to honour all outstanding classes for students who might be still be shielding or experiencing other issues related to Covid-19.

Crowdfunder – AKA bargains!!

The School has some exciting plans for the next couple of months and we want to give you lovely folk on our mailing list the first chance to get your hands on some special goodies. We were very pleased to be selected for a special Creative Scotland Crowdfunder campaign to help grow the School. It’s our aim to come back from this pandemic stronger, and greener than before.  You read about our plan at the launch on the 17th of August at 9AM and we are giving you advanced warning that should set your phone alarm! The rewards we are offering such as:

  • Gift vouchers with 20% off

  • Our Ultimate Toolkit with 20% off,

  • Bargain price group workshops

  • Snazzy aprons… and more!

are bound to be snapped up quickly! The link (which will not work until Monday at 9am) is https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/grow-with-the-central-scotland-school-of-jewellery

Drop me a line if you have any questions, jewellery, or otherwise and I look forward to being able to see you all again soon!

Stay safe/best wishes
