Hello!

Well, that’s the first week of classes under our belts and it all ran pretty smoothly! It would be nice to take all the credit, however with 18 returning students it’s fair to say that everyone has already built up an impressive set of skills. We’re thrilled that so many of our students stay and continue to create with us however it does make it tricky for new students to get enrolled on an evening course.

With this in mind we have launched two new courses at the School specifically for folk hoping to take their first jewellery steps. From January there will be a third evening class running on a Thursday evening. The structure will follow the existing evening classes and you can get more details or enrol here. Tuesday & Wednesday evening classes will be listed online after we determine if there will be any spaces becoming available.

Another new option is our two day Beginners Weekend Workshop.  This intensive two day course will introduce you to the traditional techniques and tools used to make jewellery. The aim of this course, using demonstrations and structured guidance is to instil confidence as you learn techniques such as sawing, soldering, annealing, filing, texturing and shaping to create a piece of silver jewellery during the course and when you continue making afterwards.

We are very excited about our new range of Weekend Workshops – it’s been a challenge to decide what to include and we hope that we’ve struck a good balance between old favourites and new content. We have more ideas for Spring 2019 but please get in touch if there is a particular skill you would like to see as a weekend workshop!
