Liquid Enamel Bowls with Elizabeth Jane Campbell
Sat 25th & Sun 26th April

Suitable for beginners

Join us for a two-day liquid enamel bowls workshop and explore enamel on a larger, more sculptural scale. Working with copper, you’ll learn various methods of applying liquid enamel so that it interacts to create intriguing surfaces and textures. We’ll experiment with patterning, stencilling and adhesive mark-making before exploring over-firing and under-firing techniques to produce different outcomes. Unleash your imagination, experiment and develop your skills throughout the weekend to create a series of samples. Once you’re comfortable with the techniques and have found your style, you will be ready to design and make a simple enamelled bowl that showcases the skills learned over the weekend.

Wet Process Enamels offer great colour density and brilliance, producing stunning results every time. They can be used on copper or steel surfaces and can be applied either by spraying, dipping or painting with a soft brush, opening up a whole new range of effects for enamel designs. This enamel is also Lead-Free, giving you peace of mind that you are working with a safe and non-toxic material.

Day 1: Skills Tutorials – Elizabeth will present liquid enamelling techniques through live demonstrations and presentations of a rich variety of samples. Students will experiment throughout the day with sheet copper.

Day 2: Design & Make  – Students will have the chance to review their samples before progressing to designing, enamelling, and finishing a copper bowl or perhaps even two bowls, using the techniques that they have learned.
