Sea Glass Christmas Tree Workshop

Saturday 5th December

Level: Beginners

Join us for a fun and festive introduction to jewellery making as you transform pieces of foraged sea glass into your own beautiful Sea Glass Christmas Tree.

You’ll begin by learning how to select and arrange your sea glass to create the shape of your tree, experimenting with different sizes, colours and combinations to make your design completely unique. We’ll then show you how to safely drill your sea glass using specialist drill bits – a useful technique that can also be applied to future jewellery-making projects.

Using wire, you’ll learn how to form the central structure of your tree before assembling your pieces of sea glass and adding a star to the top for the perfect festive finishing touch.

Bring along your favourite pieces of foraged sea glass and give them a new life as a handmade Christmas decoration to bring out year after year. Whether you favour traditional greens or an eclectic mix of frosted seaside colours, or pieces of sea-tumbled pottery, every tree will be completely individual.

This relaxed, hands-on workshop is suitable for complete beginners, with guidance throughout and no previous jewellery-making experience necessary.

What to bring

  • You are encouraged to bring along your own sea glass finds to create your personal Christmas Tree. However, we have sea glass available in the studio to use if you don’t.
  • Please bring along glasses if you need them
  • Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for a studio environment, including closed-toe shoes. Why not order yourself a CSSJ apron to make you feel right at home in your workshop?
  • If you have long hair, please wear it up
  • Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Please bring your own lidded cup for use in the studio. While we do not have a dedicated lunch area, you are welcome to eat at your desk, and we can also recommend nearby places to eat if you prefer.
