Description
Jewellery Making for Beginners – Summer School
Level: Suitable for all
Step away from routine and join us for three immersive mid-week days of jewellery making for beginners. This summer school offers the opportunity to dedicate uninterrupted time to learning, making and creative focus.
Designed as a mid-week retreat into the workshop, the course introduces the core techniques of traditional jewellery practice, guiding you from your first cuts in metal through to a finished piece in sterling silver.
You will learn essential workshop skills, including:
-
Saw piercing
-
Filing and refining
-
Annealing and forming
-
Texturing and disc cutting shapes
-
Soldering and finishing
Our experienced tutors demonstrate each stage clearly before supporting you as you practise and build confidence at the bench.
To begin, you will work in copper, allowing you to experiment and develop control before progressing to silver. Once confident, you will design and complete a finished piece in sterling silver — choosing to make a ring, pendant or pair of earrings.
This course is ideal if you are taking your first steps in jewellery making or looking for a structured introduction to the workshop environment. By the end of the three days, you will have developed a strong technical foundation and the confidence to continue exploring jewellery making further.
Please note: Stone setting is not included in this course. If you are interested in learning how to set gemstones, you could team this workshop with Sea Glass Pendants, which covers basic bezel setting
