Description
Torch Fired Titanium Masterclass
Saturday 12th July
Level: Intermediate – Workshop experience in saw piercing, drilling, and silver soldering is essential for this session.
Join us for a torch-fired titanium jewellery workshop and explore the alchemy of heat and colour in this one-day masterclass. Titanium is a fantastic alternative to working in precious metals because of its ability to take on beautiful, iridescent hues. It can be a tricky material to master on your own, but with a bit of practice, some careful observation, and good torch control, you can get some amazing and surprising results. Join us for a day of expert tuition on how to make the most of this mysterious metal and how to transform it into stunning jewellery. As well as using heat to bring out the colour, we’ll cover how to fine-tune your existing skill set to work with this robust metal. Titanium cannot be soldered, so this course will teach you how to make professional-looking cold connections such as wire and tube rivets.
Students will have the opportunity to work with both sheet metal and wire to produce several samples before completing a simple finished project. The finished piece will be heat-coloured to give it a brightly coloured oxide layer that is completely stable. This torch-fired titanium jewellery workshop is perfect for you if you already have a bit of jewellery-making experience and want to introduce a new and affordable material that will bring a new colourful dimension to your projects.
