Our week-long intermediate jewellery summer school course is a fantastic opportunity for all you experienced jewellers to expand your skill repertoire. We will focus on specialised processes, techniques and skills over the five consecutive days, Monday – Friday. Join us in our light, spacious studio in Dunblane, for opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of jewellery making under expert tuition. We will devote each day to teaching you a new technique enabling you to add texture, colour or depth to your designs including:
- Keum Boo
- Heat coloured titanium & riveting
- Mixed metals & patination
- Hollow forms / press forming
The aim of this course is to instil confidence as you revitalise your studio practice with new techniques. Your teacher will give you a wide range of demonstrations and structured guidance at all stages of the workshop. You can expect expect to produce more samples than finished pieces as this course is geared towards skill building that will influence your longer jewellery journey.
About the course: We advise that potential participants should only book this Summer School if they have previous workshop experience. You will need to be proficient in all the basic jewellery techniques (sawing, filing, forming, soldering) as we will not cover these during the course. Please get in touch with us if you are unsure if this class is for you.
Your Tutor: Jo Pudelko is the Lead Tutor at the Central Scotland School of Jewellery and an experienced artist and educator. A polymath of the jewellery world she has taught with Edinburgh College of Art, DJCAD, Leith School of Art and Cromarty Arts Trust to name but a few. She is passionate about sustainable practices and creative learning for all.
What to bring: Please bring along glasses if you need them for detailed work and wear appropriate clothing for a studio environment including closed toe shoes. If you have long hair please wear it up.
If you are the type of person who prefers to arm yourself with some knowledge ahead of time then we have prepared a Pinterest page filled information and inspiration just for you!
If, after this course, you realise you need to expand your jewellery tool collection, we have an extensive toolkit you can purchase. Feel free to bring a notebook and pen/pencil to take notes and start drawing up designs!
Lunch is not provided but you can bring lunch to eat in the studio or we can advise you of nearby places to buy food. Refreshments provided.
