Silver & Sea Glass Charms
Sunday 14 April

Level: Beginners

Join us for a skill packed one day introduction to jewellery making and use foraged beach treasure and precious metals to create your own silver and sea glass charms. We’ll begin by working in copper as we experiment with textures using our vast collection of hammers, punches, and everyones favourite, the rolling mill. We’ll learn how to use a jewellers saw to pierce shapes from your textured metal, and when you’re happy with your design you’ll move on to make a small collection of charms in silver.  To finish off your beautiful charm clusters we’ll show you how to safely drill your pieces of sea glass using special drill bits, and how to use jump rings and findings to incorporate these into your design. And don’t worry if you haven’t been out foraging on the beach, we’ve got a huge collection of sea glass in the studio for you to choose from.

What to bring

  • We’ll provide everything you’ll need for your silver sea glass charms workshop including tools and silver, however if you’d like to make a particularly large charm or multiple silver charms there may be a small surcharge
  • You are also welcome to bring your foraged sea glass treasure to incorporate into your charm clusters
  • Please bring along glasses if you need them
  • Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for a studio environment including closed-toe shoes. Why not order yourself a CSSJ apron to make you feel right at home in your workshop?
  • If you have long hair please wear it up
  • If you are the type of person who prefers to arm yourself with some knowledge ahead of time then we have prepared a Pinterest page filled with jewellery making information and inspiration just for you!
  • Tea, coffee and biscuits supplied, bring your own lunch to eat in the studio or we can advise you of nearby places to eat
