Description

Silver Clay Weekend Workshop. Level: Suitable for all.

About the course:

A two-day, weekend course introducing the fascinating properties of Silver Clay. Suitable for all levels, the course is designed for complete jewellery beginners, Silver Clay novices and experienced jewellery makers. Silver Clay was developed by Mitsubishi Materials using fine silver dust, an organic binder and water. The clay-like material is easy to manipulate and is perfect for producing organic textures and forms. As the clay dries, the water evaporates and the organic binder burns away during firing to leave pure silver.

Your Tutor:

Christina Hirst is a jewellery designer and maker based in Edinburgh. She trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) gaining a Masters of Design by Research, for a study of the, then new, material Silver Clay. She has since taught the use of Silver Clay for nearly 20 years and has also taught for 10 years on the Jewellery and Metal Design degree course at DJCAD.
