Silver Clay Weekend Workshop. Level: Beginners
About the course:
A two-day, weekend course for entry level beginners, introducing the fascinating properties of Silver Clay. Silver Clay was developed by Mitsubishi Materials using fine silver dust, an organic binder and water. The clay-like material is easy to manipulate and is perfect for producing organic textures and forms. As the clay dries, the water evaporates and the organic binder burns away during firing to leave pure silver.
Christina Hirst is a jewellery designer and maker based in Edinburgh. She trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) gaining a Masters of Design by Research, for a study of the, then new, material Silver Clay.
