Join us in a relaxed and friendly workshop where you shall learn to create a silver pendant. Pendants are such a lovely project to make and make beautiful gifts too. In this class you will learn some simple sawing techniques to turn a small piece of silver into a gorgeous pendant design of your choice.
There’s no soldering involved in this class the day will focus on learning how to get the best out of your jeweller’s saw. The class is perfect for beginners to jewellery making as sawing is one of the basic, but most important skills, for almost every jewellery making project however we will also cover how to texture your metal, drilling, piercing, filing and finishing skills.
We begin the day experimenting with texturing metal using hammers, punches and pressing techniques. You will also get a chance to try a range of methods to form metal, to make flat surfaces into gentle curves or sharply angled forms. You will then design and create your pendant, completing the piece with a bail or a jump ring to attach it to a piece of leather.
We’ll provide all the things you’ll need to make your pendant including tools and silver however if you want to make a particularly large pendant, extra silver will be charged (at cost price). Please bring along glasses if you need them and wear appropriate clothing for a studio environment including closed-toe shoes. If you have long hair please wear it up.
9:30-4:30 with a break for lunch. Lunch is not provided but you can bring a lunch to eat in the studio or we can advise you of nearby places to buy a lunch. Refreshments provided.
**Please note: classes may be cancelled due to lack of attendees. In the unlikely event, you will be fully refunded and notified the day before the class is scheduled**
