Make your own Silver Sea Glass ring! Weekend Workshop.

Level: Suitable for all.

About the course: Suitable for complete beginners this workshop is an ideal introduction to ring making and using found objects within general jewellery making. Following enthusiastic feedback from our previous sea glass workshop we have extended this class to a two-day workshop where participants will have more time to create a beautiful, bespoke sea glass ring.

During the workshop participants will select a piece of found sea glass and learn how to incorporate the glass into a unique Sterling silver ring. You are encouraged to bring your own pieces of sea glass if you have them. This workshop is an ideal introduction to ring making and an opportunity to learn jewellery techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering and stone setting.

The weekend will begin with a demonstration on how to make a basic ring from wire and how to apply textures and finishes to the silver. Participants will practice these techniques before learning how to create a bezel setting for their sea glass. Participants will also be shown how to safely drill holes in pieces of sea glass allowing them to be used as beads or transformed into pendants.

What to bring: We’ll provide all the things you will need to make your unique sea glass ring however you may wish to bring your own found pieces of sea glass. A sketch/note book plus pen/pencil for notes and designs could come in handy for this weekend workshop!  Please bring along glasses if you need them and wear appropriate clothing for a studio environment including closed-toe shoes. If you have long hair please wear it up and bring a cloth face mask to wear if required. If you are the type of person who prefers to arm yourself with some knowledge ahead of time then we have prepared a Pinterest board filled with Sea Glass information and inspiration just for you! Please familiarise yourself with our Covid Safe Procedures before arrival which will be sent to you a week before the workshop.

Masks continue to be mandatory and we may request that you take a Lateral Flow test before attending the workshop.

Lunch is not provided but you can bring lunch to eat in the studio or we can advise you of nearby places to buy food. Refreshments provided.

Since you are with us for the weekend maybe you would like to wear a professional CSSJ apron to really feel at home! Available to purchase here.

**Please note: classes may be cancelled due to lack of attendees. In the unlikely event, you will be fully refunded and notified the day before the class is scheduled**
