Suitable for complete beginners and well as students looking to expand their skills, this workshop makes an ideal introduction to ring making as well as using found objects in jewellery making.
During the workshop you will select a beautiful piece of found sea glass and learn how to incorporate it into a unique Sterling silver ring. You are encouraged to bring your own pieces of sea glass if you have them.
This workshop is an ideal introduction to ring making and an opportunity to learn jewellery techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering and stone setting.
The day will begin with a demonstration of how to make a basic ring out of wire. Different textures and finishes can be applied to allow each student to create an individually designed ring. Students will practice this technique before moving on to create a bezel setting for their sea glass.
All tools and materials are provided and the tutor will be on hand to work with students one-to-one guiding them through the designing and making of their rings.
Please bring along glasses if you need them and wear appropriate clothing for a studio environment including closed toe shoes. If you have long hair please wear it up.
9.30am – 4.30pm with a break for lunch. Lunch is not provided but students are welcome to bring a lunch to eat in the studio. We can also recommend places nearby to buy a lunch. Refreshments are provided throughout the day.
**Please note: classes may be cancelled due to lack of attendees. In the unlikely event, you will be fully refunded and notified the day before the class is scheduled**
