Make a Sea Glass Ring 2 Day Weekend Workshop – Sept
Make a Sea Glass Ring
We’ve been working hard to reconfigure our studio for a safe return to studying. We are adhering to the government guidelines and our Risk Assessment will shortly be published on our website. We have developed new protocols for students and staff to adhere to which will be emailed to all students before their first class.
Suitable for complete beginners this workshop makes an ideal introduction to ring making as well as using found objects in jewellery making. Following feedback from our previous workshops, we have now extended this class to a two-day workshop where you will have more time to develop the skills needed to make your own beautiful, bespoke sea glass ring.
During the workshop, you will select a piece of sea glass and learn how to incorporate it into a unique Sterling silver ring. You are encouraged to bring your own pieces of sea glass if you have them. This workshop is an ideal introduction to ring making and an opportunity to learn jewellery techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering and stone setting.
The day will begin with a demonstration of how to make a basic ring out of wire. Different textures and finishes can be applied to allow each student to create an individually designed ring. Students will practice this technique before moving on to create a bezel setting for their sea glass. Students will also be shown how to safely drill holes in pieces of sea glass allowing them to be used as beads or made into pendants.
What to bring:
Please bring along glasses if you need them and wear appropriate clothing for a studio environment including closed-toe shoes. If you have long hair please wear it up.
All tools and materials are provided and the tutor will be on hand to work with students one-to-one guiding them through the designing and making of their rings. If you are the type of person who prefers arm yourself with some knowledge ahead of time then we have prepared a Pinterest board filled with sea glass jewellery information and inspiration just for you!
Saturday 9.30am – 4.30pm
