Introduction to Enamelling Weekend Workshop – March
A two day weekend course learning the magic of enamelling! The class will look at traditional techniques such as sifting, Sgraffito, stencilling and stamping, graphite with enamel as well as other effective, simple techniques.
Students will learn how to prepare metal before enamelling, apply colour and textures and then how to use of the kiln and fire their pieces. We will also look at how to apply findings to an enamelled design to create final pieces that can be taken away and displayed/worn!
Graduating in 2013 from Edinburgh College of Art, tutor Elizabeth Jane Campbell is an award winning enamel jeweller based in Edinburgh.
Day 1: Skills tutorials Elizabeth will take you through some of the techniques used within enamelling and will run through live demonstrations whilst showing you examples of others working with enamel.
Day 2: Design & Make Students will have the chance to design and make finished pieces using the techniques that they have learnt, and Elizabeth will be on hand to offer advice and lend her skills.
This course is suitable for beginners as well as students looking to expand their skills. All tools and materials provided, with the exception of extra silver if you wish to create larger or multiple pieces. These can be purchased directly from the school at cost price on the day.
Please bring along glasses if you need them and wear appropriate clothing for a studio environment including closed toe shoes. If you have long hair please wear it up.
9:30-4:30 with a break for lunch. Lunch is not provided but you can bring a lunch to eat in the studio or we can advise you of nearby places to buy a lunch. Refreshments provided.
