SCHOOL OF JEWELLERY

Carving & Casting Rings

A comprehensive workshop where students will learn how to create a bespoke, one-off ring by making a wax carving that can then be sent away to be cast in silver or brass.

Beginning by looking at jewellers such as Felicity Powell and Carles Codina who use carving techniques, students will be encouraged to come up with their own creative design for a ring. You will learn the basics of wax carving methods and gain insight into production methods used in commercial jewellery. Wax carving is a fantastic skill to add to your jewellery repertoire as is an affordable and forgiving way of creating designs.

The day will conclude with students having carved the wax ‘master’ for their ring. The finished wax ‘masters’ will be sent away to our Scottish casting company be cast in solid silver. The silver rings are sent back to the studio and will be hand finished before being posted out to you.

9:30 -4:30 with an hour break for lunch
Suitable for all levels.
Completed rings may take between 2-3 weeks to arrive.
Refreshments provided.

**Please note: classes may be cancelled due to lack of attendees. In the unlikely event, you will be fully refunded and notified the day before the class is scheduled**
